Food Balanced meals and refining preparation skills.

Electronics Units 1.1 Electronic systems. Practical activity (Maze game) Unit 1.2 Circuit concept. Unit 1.2 Circuit concepts. Unit 1.3 Resistive components.
Food Preparation and Nutrition Topic one - Food, nutrition and health - Introduction to the functions, sources, deficiencies and excess of Macro and Micro Nutrients in the diet. Topic one - Food, nutrition and health - Focussing on nutritional needs and health, making informed choices, energy needs and nutritional analysis.
Graphic Design UNIT 1- Graphic design components. UNIT 1- Graphic design components
Term 2 - January to April

Electronics Review of units covered in term1. Unit 1.4 - Switching circuits Unit 1.6 - combinational logic systems. Practice non-examined assessment task. Unit 2.2 - Timing circuits
Food Preparation and Nutrition Topic two - Food science. Exploring why food is cooked and the different methods of heat transfer when cooking food. Experimenting with the functional and chemical properties of food. Topic three - Food safety Looking at how and why food spoils including bacterial contamination, signs of food spoilage on different foods, types of micro-organisms and prevention in food production.
Graphic Design UNIT 1- Graphic experiments & review UNIT 2- Research and design ideas
Term 3 - April to July

Electronics Unit 2.3 - Sequential circuits and counters. Start Unit 2.5 - Control Systems Start NEA task. Students will be choosing their own Electronic product to design. They will then be writing their own design specification and starting to develop their own electronic circuit.
Food Preparation and Nutrition Topic three - Food safety Continuing to learn about the principles of food safety including buying, storing, preparing, cooking and serving of food. Begin preparation for Mock NEA 2. Topic four - Food choice Students will be considering factors which affect food choice including dietary needs and religion, food labelling and marketing influences. British and international cuisines, traditional cuisines and sensory evaluations.

Year 11

Electronics Revise discovering electronics units 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.6. Continue with NEA task Revise application of electronics units 2.2 and 2.3. Continue NEA task.
Food Preparation and Nutrition Topic five - Food provenance Environmental impact, sustainability, food processing and production. Start NEA 1 - Food investigation task (15% of final grade) Continue and complete food investigation task (NEA 1). Begin NEA 2 research (35% of final grade).
Graphic Design UNIT 3- Research and design ideas UNIT 3- Final design and review. Mock exam ( 5hrs)
