Year 7

Food Preparation and Nutrition | Topic two - Food science. Exploring why food is cooked and the different methods of heat transfer when cooking food. Experimenting with the functional and chemical properties of food. | Topic three - Food safety Looking at how and why food spoils including bacterial contamination, signs of food spoilage on different foods, types of micro-organisms and prevention in food production. |

Electronics | Unit 2.3 - Sequential circuits and counters. Start Unit 2.5 - Control Systems | Start NEA task. Students will be choosing their own Electronic product to design. They will then be writing their own design specification and starting to develop their own electronic circuit. |
Food Preparation and Nutrition | Topic three - Food safety Continuing to learn about the principles of food safety including buying, storing, preparing, cooking and serving of food. Begin preparation for Mock NEA 2. | Topic four - Food choice Students will be considering factors which affect food choice including dietary needs and religion, food labelling and marketing influences. British and international cuisines, traditional cuisines and sensory evaluations. |
