Welcome to Newhouse Academy.
My name is Dawn Bracken and I am the SENDCO at the school.
Starting secondary school is a big step for every child, and for those with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) it can be an even greater challenge.
I realise this could be quite a stressful time for you as a parent and fully understand that you may have questions about your child’s transition.
I am in the process of organising a virtual coffee morning for parents of pupils with Special Educational Needs, so that you are introduced to some of the key staff who will be integral to your child’s emotional and educational development at Newhouse Academy.
The staff involved will be:
Mrs Aikman – Autism Champion
Ms Wilson – SEMH lead co-ordinator
Ms McNee – SEN lead
Ms Bracken – SENDCO
The virtual coffee morning will consist of a 30-minute online video conference, where you can meet us all and raise any questions or concerns you may have.
These meetings will be arranged through a booking system. To ensure you can access this you will need to have downloaded Zoom and have an up to date email address so that we can contact you with the details.
Below there is a transition booklet for your child to use. A copy of the booklet can be downloaded HERE or if you would prefer a paper copy please just email me and I will post this to you. My contact details can be found below. Feel free to email me at any time and I will get back to you.
