GCSE Awards Evening – Celebrating the Class of 2025

13th November 2025

On Thursday 13th November 2025, Newhouse Academy proudly hosted its GCSE Awards Evening to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2025. The evening was a chance to reflect on their journey, recognise their resilience, and reward the effort and success of our former Year 11 students.

This cohort faced unique challenges at the very start of their secondary education. The Covid-19 pandemic meant they were unable to complete Year 6 or take part in transition activities to ease the move to secondary school. Once in Year 7, they experienced learning in bubbles. Despite these obstacles, they persevered, worked hard, and produced results that make us incredibly proud. They have shown character, ambition, and left behind a strong legacy for future students to follow.

We were delighted to welcome Paul Wood, former professional rugby player for Warrington Wolves, England and Great Britain, and now Head Coach for Swinton Lions in RFL League 1, as our guest speaker. Paul shared his own education and career journey, speaking about overcoming setbacks and moving forward. He encouraged our former Year 11 students to set goals, stay determined, and never let challenges stand in their way.

Awards were presented across many aspects of school life, alongside the official exam certificates. It was wonderful to catch up with our alumni, hear how they are settling into the next stage of their lives, and celebrate their successes together.

We wish every member of the Class of 2025 the very best in their future endeavours, whether in further education, training, or employment.
