Year 6 Zone
Welcome to the Year 6 Transition Zone
Hello Year 6 students and your grown-ups
This area of our website is especially for all of you Year 6s who are joining us in September.
Over the coming weeks and months we will be adding lots of information so you can get to know us more. We will introduce you to key staff, hold a transition day, where you will visit us, and invite you to a Summer Academy to help with your transition from a Year 6 primary student into a Year 7 Newhouse Academy student.
We want to make sure that your experience of joining us here at Newhouse Academy is a truly excellent one.
Mrs Gregory-Harris – Deputy Headteacher

Some Information for Year 7 Students
At the heart of everything we do at Newhouse Academy is a belief in our core values of ASPIRATION, INTEGRITY and RESPECT.
Being on time to school and being ready to learn is very important. We have a free breakfast club that runs from 7:55am that is open to all our students. You will need to be at school for the time the ACADEMY OPENS so you can get to your form room in time. Don’t worry, there will be lots of people to help you find your way around whilst you settle in.
ATTENDANCE is also very important, missed lessons is missed learning time. If you miss 10 days of school in a year, you will still have missed 60 lessons!
We have a whole Year 7 team who will be supporting you through your first year at Newhouse Academy.
You will be studying lots of different subjects once you start in Year 7. Which SUBJECT are you most looking forward to?
Reading is another important part of learning at Newhouse Academy. We have a library stocked with a wide range of books.
You’ll also read core texts in your English lessons and study topics such as STORY TELLING.
You can also take a look at our Transition Page for further information.
