Newhouse Academy Open Evening

On Thursday 25th September 2025, Newhouse Academy in Heywood opened its doors to families of prospective students for a special Open Evening. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for visitors to explore our facilities, meet staff and students, and gain a real sense of the Academy’s ethos and community.

Guests were invited to tour the current Newhouse building, opened in 2012, which houses our art and photography studios, computing suites, humanities classrooms, English, maths and Spanish departments, as well as the library.

Families also had the chance to experience our brand-new, net-zero carbon school building, which opened in September last year. This state-of-the-art facility includes:

• A four-court sports hall and activity studio

• Drama studio and main hall

• Construction, engineering, and design technology workshops

• Dining hall and fitness studio

• Music rooms and science laboratories

• Graphics and food technology rooms

The evening was not only about exploring the buildings, but also about connecting with the people who make Newhouse Academy special. Visitors met our dedicated staff, supportive governors, and enthusiastic students, while hearing directly from the Headteacher and Senior Prefect about life at the Academy and the exciting opportunities ahead.

We were delighted to welcome so many families and look forward to seeing prospective students join our community in the future.
