Year 11 Exam Concessions and Special Consideration

Exam Concessions

You will receive a letter if your child is to receive exam concessions – this could be for example: additional time, a reader, different coloured paper. If you would like to discuss this with someone or you think your child needs to be assessed for exam concessions please contact our SENCo Mrs Lunn.

GCSE exams start week commencing 4th May and finish on the 19th June 2026 – this will be confirmed nearer to the time.

The contingency date is Wednesday 24th June 2026 (morning and afternoon).

Students need to be available up until and including the 24th June 2026, if an exam has been postponed during the summer series.
 
A contingency date is used for in the event of an exam being cancelled and a new date needed.

Special Consideration

Students can be given special consideration in extraordinary circumstances. This may be for example an illness or a bereavement. We can only apply for special consideration if we know what has happened that may effect the student’s grades.

Application for special consideration is usually made on the day of the exam and so it is essential that you let us know of anything which you feel may negatively impact on your child’s performance on the day.
