Year 11 Expectations – Target Setting – Reading
Rewards and Expectations
- We expect all of our students to arrive to school every day on time and to try their best.
- We expect all of our students to understand what it means to be part of ‘Our People’ and to ensure that they display the characteristics and behaviours every day.
- We want all of our Year 11 student to go onto the pathways of their choice. We will support them in doing this and ensure they have the best possible chances to go on to which every college, apprenticeship or role of employment that they desire.
- We expect all of our students to be able to learn in lessons without disruption or distractions. Students who disrupt will be removed from the lesson which will mean that they miss the learning taking place.
- We want all students to display our core values of aspiration, integrity and respect at all times, and we will reward those who do.
Target setting
- Your child will have been set aspirational academic targets which we will support them to achieve.
- You will be given information throughout the year about how your child is progressing towards these targets and intervention will be put in place to support progress.
- If we feel they need additional support in other areas they may be placed on reports for example for behaviour or attendance. There will be very clear targets set and families will be made aware so that they can support at home. Where necessary we will invite you into school for meetings to discuss targets and how we can work together to achieve them.
Reading
- In order to succeed in their Summer exams, students need to read the exam questions. There is often subject specific vocabulary plus additional higher level words which students need to read and understand.
- Reading regularly at home will help students to improve their reading skills, vocabulary and comprehension. All students can access our school library for a range of fiction and non-fiction texts.
