Support Your Year 11 At Home
How you can support your child at home
Talk to your child about their learning. There is information on all of the subjects your child is studying on our website so you can see the topics being covered each term.
- Ask them about their progress in lessons and the topics they are studying.
- Encourage them to have interests and hobbies beside school work.
- Make sure they are getting enough sleep and going to bed at a reasonable time.
- Ensure they make time for friends, family and relaxation.
- Encourage healthy eating habits.
- Follow Newhouse Academy on social media – Facebook and Instagram. Use posts to start a conversation with your child about school.
- Ensure you have the My Child At School app so that you have rewards and behaviour updates for your child.
- Contact us at school if you have any concerns or worries.
- Organise a study area for them at home, if possible, to support with homework.
- Help them with their organisation of work / equipment and homework.
Homework and Revision
- All Year 11 students will have a GCSE Pod account. This allows them to access video clips and
- questions across all subject areas. Some subjects may also set homework on here.
- In addition they will have a log-in for Seneca Learning which is used in many subjects for revision.
- Spanish students will have access to Languagenut.
- Science, Computer Science and Digital IT students will have access to Carousel Learning.
- And all Year 11 will have a login for Sparks Maths where Maths homework will be set.
- They may additionally have paper homework to complete – eg exam questions.
- Check with the class teacher for other revision resources.
Students will be shown revision techniques in school
We will have an evening to support families with this too. Revision must not be left to the last minute and should be ongoing throughout the year.
If you have any questions about homework and revision please get in touch.
